You may be here because...

◌

Anxiety & overthinking

Your mind rarely shuts off. You replay conversations, second-guess decisions, or stay on alert even when nothing is obviously wrong.

◒

Depression & feeling stuck

Motivation is low, life feels flat, or you know something needs to change but cannot seem to get traction.

△

Trauma & grief

Something happened that still affects how you feel, react, connect, or make sense of yourself and the world.

◎

Relationships & boundaries

The same conflicts keep returning, you struggle to say what you need, or you lose yourself trying to keep the peace.

☼

Stress & burnout

You are still functioning, but keeping everything together is taking more energy than anyone else can see.

◇

Substance use & life changes

You want an honest look at alcohol or drug use, a major transition, identity questions, or a life that no longer fits the way it used to.

A practical, collaborative approach

Therapy should actually help you change something.

I take an active, engaged approach to therapy. We will look at what is happening now, identify the patterns that keep you stuck, and work on practical ways to respond differently.

Depending on what you need, I draw from CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, Gestalt, trauma-informed care, and other approaches. The point is not to fit you into a therapy model. It is to use the tools that fit you.

You can expect careful listening, direct questions, honest feedback, and respectful challenge when it is useful.

How it works

A simple process to get started

01

Start where you are

We begin with what brings you to therapy, what has been happening, and what you would like to be different.

02

Understand the pattern

We slow things down enough to identify what is contributing to the problem and what may be keeping it going.

03

Practice something different

We build practical skills, try new strategies, and make changes you can notice outside of the therapy session.

Areas of focus

What we can work on

Every person’s situation is different. These are some of the concerns that commonly come up in individual therapy.

◌

Anxiety & overthinking

Worry, racing thoughts, self-doubt, social anxiety, perfectionism, fear of failure, and difficulty switching your mind off.

☼

Depression & mood concerns

Low motivation, irritability, numbness, disconnection, hopelessness, and feeling like you are going through the motions.

△

Trauma & grief

Past experiences, loss, guilt, shame, hypervigilance, emotional flooding, avoidance, and experiences that still feel unfinished.

◎

Relationships & self-esteem

Boundaries, people pleasing, attachment patterns, conflict, trust, resentment, self-criticism, and difficulty asking for what you need.

◇

Stress, burnout & life transitions

Work pressure, parenting, career changes, identity shifts, major decisions, aging, loss, and feeling overwhelmed by competing demands.

◒

Substance use

A nonjudgmental place to look at alcohol or drug use, consequences, motivation, cutting back, sobriety, relapse prevention, and what you want next.

Experience you can trust

Chris Allington, MA, LPC, LAC
Licensed Professional Counselor · Licensed Addiction Counselor

I began counseling in 2009 and hold dual Colorado licenses as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addiction Counselor. I have worked with mental health concerns, substance use, crisis situations, relationships, and the places where those concerns overlap.

That experience means I am comfortable with complexity. You do not have to reduce your life to one diagnosis or one problem before we can start making sense of it.

All sessions are provided by secure telehealth to clients located in Colorado.

A good place to begin

You can start with what is happening now.

We can sort through the rest together. If you are ready to see whether this feels like a good fit, schedule an intake and we will begin there.
